WACES is currently accepting applications for the WACES 2025-2026 Emerging Leaders Professional Development Program. The Emerging Leaders program is open to all master’s students, doctoral students, and early career professionals (must be within the first 2 years of graduation during the 2025-2026 academic year), who are current members of WACES. WACES Emerging Leaders demonstrate leadership potential such as excellence in counseling, service, advocacy, teaching, and/or research in the profession. The WACES board especially encourages those individuals who identify with underrepresented communities to apply.
Program Overview:
The WACES Emerging Leaders Program will run from September 2025 – April 2026. The program will connect ELs with distinguished leaders from the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), WACES, and the greater counseling profession. Those selected will have the opportunity to:
- Attend monthly meetings and connect with a cohort of emerging leaders from across the region
- Attend leadership and professional development workshops
- Connect with a mentor to explore professional development goals
- Develop leadership experience within WACES through involvement in various committees (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Antiracism (DEIA) Committee, Conference Committee, Accessibility Justice Committee, Technology and Social Media Committee, Graduate Student Committee, Journal of Technology in Counselor Education and Supervision)
- Engage in WACES Emerging Leaders networking opportunities at the ACES 2025 Conference
- Receive free early bird registration for the ACES Conference 2025 in Philadelphia, PA (for those who wish to attend).
Applicants should submit their applications by June 2, 2025, 5 p.m. PST and must include the following in one PDF document:
- A two-page personal statement (double spaced) articulating how your professional experiences and career aspirations align with the WACES Emerging Leaders Professional Development program. Additionally, kindly specify which WACES committees you are interested in working with as part of your involvement with the organization (WACES Committees: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Antiracism (DEIA) Committee, Conference Committee, Accessibility Justice Committee, Technology and Social Media Committee, Graduate Student Committee, Journal of Technology in Counselor Education and Supervision)
- Two page CV
- A letter of support from an individual who can speak to your professional experiences and leadership potential
